When you use the OpenAI provider, your chat messages (conversation content) are transmitted to OpenAI's servers to generate AI responses. This is the core functionality of the app when using the OpenAI provider.
When using the Apple Intelligence provider (on supported devices), all processing occurs entirely on your device. No conversation data is sent to any external server.
The app uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as app launches, feature usage, and crash reports. This data is used to improve the app and does not include your chat content or API key. For details, see Firebase Privacy.
The app displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Google may collect device information and advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Your chat conversations are stored locally on your device using CoreData. This data is not synchronized to any cloud service and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Your OpenAI API key is stored securely in your device's Keychain. It is never transmitted to the developer or any party other than OpenAI.
Settings such as your selected AI provider and consent preferences are stored locally using UserDefaults.
Chat history is stored locally on your device, and your API key is protected by the device's Keychain. The security of your data depends on your device's own security measures (passcode, biometric authentication, encryption). We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a strong passcode.
Hey AI is not directed at children under the age of 4. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
